2/8/2017.- The LIFE BAQUA project, "Solutions through the new use for a waste of banana crop to develop products in aquaculture and plastics sector" (LIFE15 ENV/ES/000), which belongs to the subprogramme of Environment and Climate Action of the LIFE Program of the European Union, has as main objective to establish a new model of circular economy for the use of waste generated by the cultivation of plantain, specifically the pseudostem of the plant, talo or rolo.

The GIA starts a project to search for genetic improvement of white shrimp

20/7/2017.- The University of Las Palmas of Gran Canaria (ULPGC) has agreed for 1.010.000 euros the transfer of innovative technology of genetic improvement for shrimp farming to the Ecuadorian company Biogemar SA The project, called MacMICOd.1, is led by the Aquaculture Research Group (GIA) of the IU-ECOAQUA and the ultimate goal is to improve the production of white prawns in terms of quality, growth and robustness.

7/7/2017.- The Rector of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), Rafael Robaina, and the Ecuadorian company Biotecnología y Genetica Marina SA (BIOGEMAR SA) have signed today an Agreement on Technological Development and Knowledge Transfer.
