IU-ECOAQUA participates in the European Syngnathid Meeting

Francisco Otero-Ferrer, Post-Doc researcher in Marine Habitats from the IU-ECOAQUA (Institute of Sustainable Aquaculture and Marine Ecosystems), has participated in the the first European Syngnathid meeting took place at the Oceanário de Lisboa, last 20-21 October 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal.  The aim of this meeting was to build a network to help expand knowledge and action for syngnathid species.

Researchers experts and professionals actively engaged with european seahorses and pipefishes species from different countries including Portugal, Italy, France, Spain, Finland, United Kingdom, Greece and Iran discussed about the protection of the European seahorse species, trying to generate quick response capacity when concerns arise for the European syngnathid species (e.g. illegal fishing and trade) and consistent methods for population assessment.
