The ULPGC, present with ECOAQUA in a round table of the different International Campuses of Excellence

The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), through the University Institute of Aquaculture and Sustainable Marine Ecosystems (IU-ECOAQUA), has participated in the round table "RED CEIMARNET and Aquaculture", represented by the researcher Juan Manuel Afonso from the Aquaculture Research Group (GIA) of ECOAQUA, where the representatives of the different International Campus of Excellence (CEI) in the marine field participated. The event took place on 9 May, within the programme of the XVII National Aquaculture Congress organised by the Spanish Aquaculture Society (SEA) from 7 to 10 May 2019, in Cartagena, in collaboration with the Faculty of Biology of the University of Murcia.

The table was moderated by the Coordinator of the CEI Campus Mare Nostrum, Professor Mª Jesús Periago, participated by CMN Professor Ángel Pérez Ruzafa and Doctor Inocencio González Reolid, from the University of Murcia and the Polytechnic of Cartagena. The other participants were Professor Juan Miguel Mancera Romero from the University of Cadiz representing CEI Campus del Mar, José Manuel García Estévez, professor from the University of Vigo, as a member of Campus do Mar, and Professor Juan Manuel Alfonso López from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canarias as ex-coordinator of CEI Campus Atlántico Tricontinental.
The presentations were focused on the role that the CEIs as strategic alliances that have helped the progress of research in the area of aquaculture, promoting collaboration and mutual learning among the institutions that compose it and establishing a program of joint actions that have materialized in a greater attraction of resources for the development of infrastructure on each of the campuses and greater coordination in the development of research projects.
In order to coordinate these activities, previous CEIMARNET meetings established the development of a virtual platform to bring together all the resources and actions carried out from the network. After the preliminary presentation of this project, which is being carried out at the University of Murcia, coordinated by Professor Ángel Pérez Ruzafa, it was discussed the relevance of moving forward to have it completed for future meetings of the network.
