Economic growth and sustainable ecosystems go hand in hand in the Blue Economy policy of the EU. And this is because the seas and the oceans can undoubtedly generate economy and wellbeing but, for this, they must enjoy good health, be safe and be managed in a sustainable manner.

The Doctorate in Sustainable Aquaculture and Marine Ecosystems contributes to the development of the blue economy paradigm through the specialized training of professionals who, through highly competitive research at an international level, promote the development of aquaculture coastal and offshore, the sustainable and responsible use of coastal and marine natural resources, marine conservation, the modernization and transformation of artisanal fisheries, the biotechnological exploitation of marine species and fishery by-products or the diversification of tourist activities such as of recreation based on the marine natural heritage.

Master

Master in Marine Crops (V edition).

Organized jointly by the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Faculty of Marine Sciences) and the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies, the Master's Degree in Marine Crops offers an international program on the principles of aquaculture, the techniques of cultivation of species and areas of representative studies such as nutrition, pathology, genetics, reproduction, engineering and economics and the environment.

The course is designed for a maximum of 20 students and, in each edition, more than 50 Aquaculture teachers from different countries interact and forge a personal and professional experience with students from five continents.

Master in Coastal Management

The impetus of this master lies in the training of professionals and researchers specialized in all issues related to the management, exploitation and development of coastal areas. Thus, the active participation of students in multidisciplinary teams of economists, biologists, jurists, landscapers, etc, that lead the management of the coastline in the Canary Islands, guarantees the success of this Master's degree in that it provides them with coastal-port development strategies, planning tools and the use of new technologies.

Master in Sustainable Management of Fisheries Resources

The Master in Sustainable Management of Fisheries Resources is the first master's degree in fisheries management offered in Spain, which places it in a privileged position.

75% of the world's marine resources are depleted, overfished or exploited to the limit of their possibilities. For this reason it is necessary to train managers with a broader perspective of fisheries management, based on the ecosystem. Thus, this Master provides students with a specialization in the field of fisheries resource management, offering an interdisciplinary vision, to train competitive professionals in the scientific and labor fields.
